Thermistor & Probe Products

Thermistors are “thermally sensitive resistors” which exhibit a change in resistance with temperature. Measurement Specialties manufactures NTC “negative temperature coefficient” thermistors which exhibit a steep drop in resistance as temperature increases, providing high sensitivity to temperature changes.

Features of Thermistors

Sensitivity - A thermistor is much more sensitive to temperature change than other sensors. A typical thermistor changes 1,290 ohms/degree at 25°C.
Interchangeability - Measurement Specialties thermistors are available with interchangeabilities to ±0.05°C from 0 to 70°C.
Two Wire Connection No cold-junction compensation necessary. The thermistors higher resistance allows for longer lead lengths without introducing errors compared to RTD's.
Ruggedness - Measurement Specialties continues to manufacture a series of thermistors which meet NASA qualifications for extended space flight
Hermetic Seal - Measurement Specialties glass-encapsulated thermistors achieve a hermetic seal between the environment and thermistor disc which permits measurement in high moisture environments.

44000 Series - Available in two interchangeability tolerances ±0.2°C and ±0.1°C in two configurations - epoxy covered and teflon encapsulated.
45000 Series - High temperature glass encapsulated with ±0.2°C interchangeability.
GEM 55000 Series glass encapsulated thermistors achieves lower cost utilizing automated production. It offers high interchangeability (±0.1°C or ±0.2°C), hermetic encapsulation, long term stability and ruggedness.
46000 Series - Super-stable thermistors with glass encapsulation. Available in three interchangeability tolerances - ±0.05°C, ±0.1°C, or ±0.2°C.

The 4600 Series Precision Thermometers take metrology-level temperature measurement into the laboratory. Three models are offered:
Measurement Specialties 4600 is a precision thermometer for use with standard YSI 400 Series probes over the wide range of -40 to +150°C. It offers system accuracy of ±0.115°C.
Model Measurement Specialties 4610 - Using specially calibrated probes the 4610 system accuracy is ±0.05°C from 20 to 50°C.YSI 4600S - Specially calibrated to your specified 400 Series probe, the 4600S gives N.I.S.T.-traceable accuracy of ±0.05°C from 10 to 50°C.
